How To Set Up Voicemail on Your iPhone

To start with a little disclaimer, the steps that you need to undertake to set up your voicemail slightly depend on what iOS level you have on your iPhone. Yet, the differences are almost negligible, so these instructions will work for just about anyone. Thus, follow these next steps to install your voicemail:

  • Step 1: Find the green “Phone” icon on your home screen and click on it. There, you will find your contact list, your recent calls, your favorites, and your keypad. Most importantly though, your voicemail can also be found there.

  • Step 2: At the right bottom of your screen, you will see a specific icon with “Voicemail” written underneath it. Click on that.

  • Step 3: If you come across a blank page with the words “Call Voicemail” written in the middle, you can stop here. Namely, this means that you have already set up a voicemail once, and thus, this guide is irrelevant to you. However, if you have not set up your voicemail yet, you will see the option “Set up now”. Click on that to start creating the perfect voicemail.

  • Step 5: After this is all taken care of, it is time to make things concrete and to actually create a suitable voicemail. The first thing that you will have to do to achieve this is to set up an outgoing message. On the one hand, you could choose the option “Default”. This entails opting for a pre-chosen standard message that will be used to greet people who call you when you do not answer. On the other hand, you could opt for the option “Custom”. This will give you the chance to record your own greeting. Again, it is up to you entirely which option you go for.

  • Step 6: However, in the scenario that you do choose the “Custom” option, this entails one extra step. To be more concrete, you will see a record button appear if you choose this option. Just click on that whenever you are ready and record your preferred greeting. If you are satisfied with the result, press “Stop”. If you are not yet convinced, press “Play” first to find out how it will sound to other people before you make a decision.
